Prof. (Dr.) Sundeep Mishra is one of India's top interventional cardiologists, trained in the best interventional cardiology center in the world (Washington Hospital Center, DC, USA). He has more than 30years of experience and vast knowledge in field of clinical cardiology, heart failure & interventional cardiology. Currently he is serving as Vice-chancellor (President) at Jaipur, Rajasthan-based Nims University,and Director of the Institute of Cardiac sciencesat NIMS University Hospital and Nims Heart and Brain Centre, an urban satellite center of Nims Hospital. He was former Director Professor of Cardiology & Officer-in-Charge Cath Labat AIIMS, New Delhi. Afterpursuing DM Cardiology from AIIMS, heundertook Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from Washington Hospital Center, USA, the largest interventional cardiology center in world at that time. Before joining Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur. He spent 30 years serving patients at AIIMS New Delhi. Along with his special charge as Officer-in-Charge Cath lab he was also the Audit Officer of Cardio-Neuro Center, AIIMS, Officer-in-charge of the Coronary Intervention Purchase Committee and International Student Committee. During that period he also served as Chairman of National Intervention Council of India (aka Angioplasty Society of India), Editor-in-Chief of Indian Heart Journal, the largest cardiology journal in South Asia, Joint Secretary of Cardiological Society of India (CSI) & Gen Secretary of CSI Delhi. Among international affiliations he served on Board of Trustees of SCAI USA, the oldest and largest interventional cardiology society in world, Editor in Catheterization & Cardiovascular Interventions, the oldest interventional cardiology journal in the world. In addition, he was Organizing Secretary of 1st AIIMS Healthy Food Symposium and Course-Director and Organizing Secretary of TCT India.
He pursued IhisMBBS from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, and an MD in Medicine from the University of Delhi. After this, he completed his DM in Cardiology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences. A fellowship in Interventional Cardiology also was granted to Prof. Mishra from Washington Hospital Center, USA.
Prof. Mishra is a member of various professional and scientific societies, including the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) and Delhi CSI. In addition, he is an India Session Coordinator at K imaging, Korea, and he isNAACAssessor andalsoAssessor withNationalMedicalCouncil (NMC), India.
Previously, Dr. Mishra was associated with the SCAI International Committee, SCAI Strategy Committee, SCAI Publications Committee,& SCAI India Working Group, USA. He was also Course Director, Sri Lanka Interventional Meeting, Asia PCR Scientific Committee, and the SCAI India Working Group in the USA. He contributed Scientific Committees of EuroPCR, France, TCT, USA,APSIC (Singapore), EuroCHORUS, France, and ChairScientific Committee, SCAI Case Exchange Session (USA). He served as Ambassador to Cardio Alex, Egypt. He was an international advisor and mentor in Interactive Professional Development Initiatives as also Mentor for SCAI Cath Lab Sessions. He founded the Patients United for Heart Failure Foundation and was a Founding Member of the I-ternity Foundation as well.
He has organized several "India Sessions" on International Platforms on sidelines of several meetings; ACC, ESC, SCAI, TCT, CCT, EuroPCR, AsiaPCR, GulfPCR, IC-MED, K-Imaging, Italian Society of Cardiology, Turkish Society of Cardiology, and Egyptian Society of Cardiology, TCT-AP, CHORUS. He is a voting selector of the MSCAI nominating committee. He is a winner of the Global Interventional Quiz, conducted by the American Heart Association in New Orleans in Nov-2016, and the National Cardiology Quiz at the Annual CSI Meeting in 2013.
Prof. Mishra is also recipient of several other national & international awards: Winner of GlobalInterventional Quiz, New Orleans, USA & National Cardiology Quiz by CSI. Recipient of“Young Leader Award” by CRT, Washington DC, USA, Best Academician Award by TamilNadu CSI, Visionary Leader of year 2022 by CEGR, India, Sujoy B Roy “Young InvestigatorAward” and KL Chopra Award by CSI. He was also awarded “Eminent Social Reformer-Healthcare” the 12th International Human Rights Award 2022 and Distinguished Alumni Award by SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
He was the first person to do Virtual Histology in India. He also undertook Experimental Angiogenic Gene Therapy first time in India as also developed the Rat Hind Limb Model of Ischemia. Dr. Mishra has received various research grants and contracts, including; 'SPIRIT V Study evaluating Xience V stent,' 'INDICOR Study evaluating Drug Eluting Balloon,' 'ReMeDi Study,' 'CVD Biomarker profiling in Acute Coronary Events,' 'Mes Res Study of Bioresorbable Stent' and many more.
Prof. Mishra has more than 200 manuscripts and research abstracts. In addition, his book (as Editor in Chief) Cath lab Practicals Manual and Recent Research & Analysis in Cardiology are best-sellers among cardiology books. He has delivered several talks in national and international forums including prestigious orations at API 7 CSI Meetings.
Prof. Mishra is associated with many cardiovascular intervention’s journals and magazines as an editor and member of the editorial board. In addition, he was editor-in-chief of the Indian Heart Journal, the official journal of the Cardiological Society of India. Currently, Prof. Mishra is an international editor at the Sri Lanka Journal of Cardiology, Associate Editor at Asia Intervention (an affiliate of EuroIntervention), and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cardiology and Diagnostic Research. He is a member of the executive board of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology and Clinical Research & Studies Journal. Prof. Mishra was involved in various multinational clinical trials and consultations, delivered numerous guest lectures, and conducted more than 25 workshops both national & international.
